How’d We Get Here?
The Knicks got a taste of playoff success and cashed in a lot of their chips to go bigger and better next year. They traded a haul of first-rounders to get Mikal Bridges and forked over a huge contract to OG Anunoby. They weren’t able to retain Isaiah Hartenstein but got the absolute steal of the summer when Jalen Brunson agreed to take over $100 million less than he could’ve on a contract extension. Armed with two of the league’s most lethal defensive wings, an All-Star leader who made one of the biggest sacrifices in recent history (to the extent that anything is a sacrifice on *that* salary, even under the max) and a brand new big man in Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks fancy themselves real title contenders.
