According to Shams Charania, NBA players have been informed that they must tell their teams by June 24 whether or not they intend to participate in the league's plan to return to the court next month in Orlando.

This has to do with 10-14 day quarantine periods from when the players will initially be exposed to one another. Players who choose not to participate will receive a reduction in salary of 1/92.6 per game missed when (if) the season returns. These players, if they are at higher risk of contracting the coronavirus, will be placed into two categories: Protected Players and Excused Players (excused absences must be submitted by June 25). Shams also added that players will be subject to a reduction in pay for games missed if they leave the "bubble" in Orlando without prior approval. In addition, they would obviously need to complete a 10-14 day, symptom-free quarantine period and be tested with the deep nasal swabs.
