Hall of Famer Gary Payton is eager for his next chapter in the NBA, he told Yahoo Sports, and believes he is 'now ready to coach.'

He seems likely to seek coaching positions on NBA staffs. We wouldn't expect Payton to get a head coaching gig right out of the gate, like fellow Hall of Famer Steve Nash did in September. Payton has revealed that he is 'eager' to join an NBA franchise and get the next chapter of his basketball life underway. For what it's worth, Payton's son, Gary Payton II, has been a fringe NBA player for the past couple seasons after a stellar college career at Oregon State. The elder Payton could be on the NBA sidelines in 2020-21 so keep an eye out for his name during this unique offseason.
