The Warriors, who currently sit at the bottom of the entire NBA record-wise (15-50), may not use their lottery pick in the draft to select a big man, as many pundits have expected. The reason: Marquese Chriss, who has had a breakout season for the Warriors (20.3 MPG with averages of 9.3 PTS, 6.2 REB, 1.9 AST and 1.1 BLK in 59 games, 21 starts).
Chriss, who began his Warriors tenure on a two-way deal before earning an NBA contract for his outstanding play, was a lottery pick himself in 2016 by the Kings. Of particular note, this possibly would take University of Memphis product James Wiseman out of consideration for the Warriors' first-round lottery choice. The lottery draft hasn't occurred yet after being postponed earlier this month. However, commissioner Adam Silver has established that the league still plans to hold a draft after the season; everyone is simply playing a waiting game with the world engulfed in a pandemic.
