The Pistons have exercised the third-year team option of small forward Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, according to Yahoo Sports' Keith Smith.

This is not shocking, by any means, as Mykhailiuk showed plenty of promise in his second season in 2019-20. He is now on a fully non-guaranteed deal for the upcoming season, and it will become guaranteed if he is not waived on or before November 21. That event seems remote, at best, and a trade would be more likely. The Pistons have nothing to lose though and they might as well see what they have in the 23-year-old Kansas product. Mykhailiuk stands to reach restricted free agency next summer after the 2020-21 season.
