    INTRO

Hey folks – I’m not going to be doing as much writing in the intro for this first edition and first ever In-Season Bruski 150. Once again, it’s basically just rankings for the rest of the season based on totals and I will outline some mild differences below.

But before we get into the good stuff … making this Bruski 150 is only possible because of the progress made by our team as a whole and in particular their commitment to value and process. The handful of folks in the premium business whose business it is to make money for themselves, their clients and also create an ecosystem where content producers get paid – these are people cranking eight to 16 hour days producing work product, crunching numbers and devouring film – they know how hard it is to keep up let alone hold an edge.

Specifically, tools that we will continue to unveil and tools that we have already unveiled are being leveraged in unparalleled ways because of the quality of our team. The importance of developing tools and constant evaluation of strategy shows up in the work and it’s really only possible when you are in the trenches both in competition and in your depth of content production. We have a full platform doing all of the different things. And if you’re serious about creating an edge all of these things culminate in the ability to produce industry-leading ranks.

When you pair it with the nearly 400 hours worth of research put into the initial Bruski 150 all of this is quite the convergence.

The best news for NBA FantasyPass subscribers is that you GET ACCESS to a lot of these tools. I’m going to list them out so you can see what professional grade projections look like. This atomic unit forms the foundation of everything we do here. All of our tools leverage data points that require years of experience and an eye for the game that you either have or you don’t. It’s a speed game as well – you need to get to the answers fast and make corrections fast when you inevitably make mistakes.

Our projections use proprietary Bruski 150 data and methods and are maintained comprehensively behind our core Ethos of doing things the right way. Value over everything.

Anyway, I want you guys to know what you have at your fingertips here and PLEASE give us feedback on what you guys would like to see next.

Our mission is to make the fantasy industry sustainable, ensuring that our customers and people looking for free, high-quality content have an excellent experience. We’re also focused on steering the industry in the right direction so that content creators are fairly compensated for their work – and we continue to lead the way in that department. These value add releases along with our new SportsEthos app and growing squad of industry leaders are just the most recent example of that. If these things aren’t happening, the industry isn’t growing—and we’ve seen the decline all around us. That’s why we’re taking the hard road: creating real value while ensuring that our core ethos shapes everything about how we operate and structure our business. We pull for each other, we value effort and honesty and we don’t take shortcuts.

Lastly, thank you all for the kind words of support as I continue to battle Thoracic Outlet Syndrome as well as your words of support for our various shows and content pieces. Every time you guys help amplify and retweet our stuff, subscribe to our podcasts and various video and social media pages, and best of all every time you guys interact with us in all of those places it’s like food for the soul. As an update I do struggle physically and surgery is just a small piece of the puzzle as I come up to the one year anniversary here soon from the day I had a rib bolt-cuttered out of me to decompress a major nerve intersection near my collarbone. Between the work of the team over here and approaching this disability as an opportunity to grow, I’ve been able to maintain my work product research flow for the duration. There is a lot on the business side that is challenging in so many ways but your support really does make it all possible – so again thank you.

Quickly about the Preseason Bruski 150

Creating the Bruski 150 takes about 400 hours between July and October and we accumulate corporate knowledge every single season. I evaluate just under 300 players that end up in the ranks, which as you might have guessed started off as a 150 player list starting in 2010 I believe. Overall I evaluate about 500 players and do full-blown evaluations on just under 400 of them. This is how we win.

And WIN we did! Even with the competition buying the Bruski 150 and using it against me, I was still able to post top-3 finishes in four out of five public high-stakes leagues and bring back just under $30,000. I also won another FSWA Writer of the Year due in large part to the previous season’s Bruski 150.

Without further ado the ground rules for this list!

The ground rules for the B150

*and small tweaks for this in season version….

♦ While the preseason Bruski 150 is a fearless list that’s not trying to play it safe, in other words I see a shot and I take a shot, this version is different in the sense that we are adding data from everything we’ve seen for the first third of the season to the robust findings from the preseason research and the result is generally that we know which way things are going to go. We are going to accumulate our wins (in the rankings game) by being more knowledgeable about the way things are going to break than our opponents but there shouldn’t be any surprises here. There will be, but there shouldn’t be.

♦ These ranks will help you calibrate your expectations for the rest of the season whether that manifests in trades, add/drop decisions, playoff positioning or categorical scarcity. Between these ranks and our tools you have a lot of ramp between now and the end of the year to make your move!

♦ This is a Roto list. It’s not a head-to-head list or a points league list. It’s not a list that adjusts players materially based on playoff schedules.

♦ Though this is a top-150 list (including ~50 honorable mentions at the end), each player in the top 400 or so has been hand-projected for each category. Those projections have been scrutinized in every context that might affect the final outcome. A proprietary blend of methodologies – both quantitative and qualitative – is used to weave the resulting numbers into these rankings.

♦ This is a Rest of Season list. By ranking a player (for example) No. 33, I am predicting they will finish as the 33rd ranked player between now and the end of the year, cumulatively.

♦ These are pure values that don’t account for any punting or specialized team builds you might want to look at. If you want to adjust for punting or a specific type of team build you’ll need to do that on your own.

So without further ado, I give you the first ever In-Season Bruski 150:
