Week 8 Defenses to Start/Sit/Stream

  • “Start” These are going to be D/STs that are rostered that you shouldn’t think twice about starting.

“Sit” These are going to be the D/STs that need to be benched until next week’s evaluation.

“Stream” These are going to be the D/STs that are sitting on your waiver wire begging to be picked up.

    Start

New York Jets @ New York Giants

The stats don’t show for how talented the Jets defensive line is. They are good. They just haven’t been able to sack the quarterback as well as we expected. Good thing they play against the Giants, who give up the 2nd most sacks to defenses. This will be a good game for the Jets to come back from as they are coming off of a bye week. Not a good offense against a good defense is usually fair play.

Detroit Lions vs. Las Vegas Raiders

The Lions just got embarrassed by the Ravens (Called by me!) in their last game and now they get the chance to go up against a potential CTE candidate Devante Adams and a Raiders squad that looks ready to call it a season. I expect nothing but greatness for the Lions who get the pleasure of being at home in primetime. They give up the 3rd least amount of rushing yards to opposing teams. The Raiders are struggling to have a consistent QB. This is going to be a good bounce back game for the Lions. Start them.

New Orleans Saints @ Indianapolis Colts

The Colts don’t keep that offensive performance for the rest of the season. I would be surprised if they even get more than half of that. The Saints are arguably one of the best defenses in the league. This D/ST averages the 5th most points and totals in 3rd for most points while also being bottom quarter of the league in most fantasy points allowed to all positions. This will be a good start.

    Sit

    Washington Commanders vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Commanders look like they’re ready to crumble and why not against their division rival Eagles who have all the momentum in the world. The Commanders have been solid from time to time but it’s against an Eagles offense that can do it all against them. I’ll stay away.

    Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

This Jaguars offense has started to come alive and if they truly are the real deal, they’ll get it done in Pittsburgh. The Jaguars have found some success running the ball which has led to the pass opening up. This feels like a game that could end up being like what happened when the Texans played the Steelers, and the Jaguars have a better offense. Sit.

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings

There’s no doubt in my mind that the Vikings can repeat what they did in the passing game against any team. That is not a good look for the Packers, who are stingy with the ball in the air, but aren’t stingy enough to handle this offense. Sit.
