Houston Texans @ Jacksonville Jaguars Best Lines Available
Jaguars (-425) @ Texans (+320): O/U 44.5 (-110)
Jaguars -8 (-110), Texans +8 (+110)Sundays starts off with a rivalry game in a division that is up for grabs. These Texans are looking for their first win of the season while the Jaguars are looking to separate themselves from the rest of the teams in their division. We’re looking for this game to be higher scoring than some of the rest of the games on this slate so there’s going to be plenty of opportunities for players to perform, but which ones will?

Can CJ Stroud keep his fantasy value up? Stroud has passed for 626 yards, 5th most in the league. His passing volume alone allows him to finish as a top-12 quarterback every week. In his first game, he wasn’t able to find the end zone and that kept him from his ceiling, but after scoring twice last week against the Colts, we got a glimpse of what we can expect from Stroud moving forward. His passing volume is a product of his team playing from behind and we expect this game to be the same, so for as long as the Texans are bad, expect his value to be around top-12 making Shroud a viable starter in most of your leagues.
Can Trevor Lawrence support both of his wide receivers? In his first game, we saw Calvin Ridley take the majority of catches and receiving yards while Christian Kirk took the majority in the second game. Trevor Lawrence was expected to take a step forward this year and the expectations still stand today, but in order to do that, he’s going to have to get the ball to his playmakers more frequently. The Texans’ pass defense is one of the best in the league, so this will be a good matchup for Lawrence to show us if he will able to support both receivers for the rest of the season.
Is Dameon Pierce fantasy relevant? Dameon Pierce has a combined 26 rushing attempts this season. This is a product of the passing volume the Texans are allowing CJ Stroud. What we’re looking for in this game is if the Texans will try to run the ball more in the first half to set up the passing game or will they unleash the passing game out the gate. If we get the Texans running the ball more in this game, Pierce’s talent is going to keep him fantasy-relevant. If we see the Texans pass out of the gate, Pierce might end up being a player that we don’t end up starting after this week.
