The Best and Worst Pick in Each Round of 2024 Fantasy Football Drafts

  • After doing over a hundred off-season best ball drafts on Underdog over the last couple of months, I can comfortably say which players I like at every twist and turn of the draft board. In every round there are picks that seem to provide more value than others, and I’m here to detail some value pockets I’ve noticed all across the draft board, and the players that I’m avoiding every step of the way. Reminder that these aren’t simply the best and worst players in available in each round, but the best and worst values based on their half-point PPR ADP via FantasyPros’ Consensus ADP.

    Round One

Best Pick – Amon-Ra St. Brown (ADP 1.08)

One thing I look for in a first round pick is security, and St. Brown is a player often available for a majority of the first round who offers a high floor and a high ceiling on both a weekly and season-long basis. In all but one game last season, Amon-Ra St. Brown scored at least 11.2 half-PPR fantasy points, finishing inside the top-12 WRs in 10-of-17 performances last season. With Josh Reynolds on to Denver and vacating 64 targets with no competition added to the Lions’ receiving corps, St. Brown could cement himself as a truly elite fantasy WR if he makes another slight jump in volume and/or efficiency.

Worst Pick – Jonathan Taylor (ADP 1.10)

Simply put, I believe Jonathan Taylor has the worst floor/ceiling combination of any first-rounder. It’s going to be hard for a first round pick to ever return value if he cannot play close to a full season, and Taylor has missed six games in each of his last two seasons due to a multitude of injuries. Also, the return of Anthony Richardson to the lineup may mean a more effective and score-abundant offense for Taylor to benefit from, the mobile QB’s presence surely demands some of the rushing volume that would normally go to a healthy Jonathan Taylor. Durability is the primary concern here, and for that reason I prefer to pass on Taylor till he falls closer to the mid-second.
