NFL FantasyPass: Week 14 Sleepers

  • In fantasy football, there are oftentimes players that go overlooked heading into a week of games. Sleepers are left on benches every single week, but sometimes that “big game from out of nowhere” could have been easily predicted and utilized in starting lineups. In this piece, I’ll be tiering and listing some of the sleepers I’ve identified ahead of Week 14 of the 2023 fantasy football season. If they’re on your bench, feel comfortable playing them over a starter with a worse outlook for Week 14. There’s also a chance they could be on the waiver wire, so snatch them up if you’re in need of their services.

I’ll be looking at players rostered in at least 50% of ESPN leagues and tier them in descending order of their percentage started on fantasy teams. In other words: the further down the list, the deeper the sleeper for Week 14’s matchups. Tier One: Started in 25-50% of fantasy leagues

WR Courtland Sutton – Denver Broncos (87% rostered / 46% started)

Courtland Sutton has been on an absolute tear this season, being arguably one of the most consistent fantasy assets of 2023. Sutton has scored a touchdown in 75 percent of his games this season, and only has one game with less than 9.1 PPR fantasy points on the year. However, despite finding the end zone so often, Sutton hasn’t had a single game with over 20 fantasy points yet this season. He is about as consistent as it gets, but his ceiling is capped before he ever gets close to week-winning upside. Still, Sutton is a great fantasy WR on a virtually-weekly basis, and he should be fired up as one once again in Week 14 vs. the Chargers. Los Angeles has surrendered the fourth-most PPR fantasy points to opposing wideouts on the year, and Sutton could easily extend his touchdown total once again.

QB Justin Fields – Chicago Bears (83% rostered / 35% started)

Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears had the week off in Week 13 to prepare for their Week 14 contest with their division rival, the Detroit Lions. Chicago took on the Lions in Detroit in Week 11 when Justin Fields made his return from a four-week absence in the middle of the season. In that first game back, Fields threw the ball for 169 yards and a touchdown, but also added 18 carries for 105 yards on the ground. Fields and the Bears’ offense should be at full-strength vs. the Lions, who have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks on the year. Fields has week-winning upside that could help those in need of a final push for the fantasy football playoffs.

WR Brandin Cooks – Dallas Cowboys (70% rostered / 27% started)

Brandin Cooks, alongside Dak Prescott and the rest of their outstanding offense, has been on a bit of a heater over the last handful of games. While Cooks hasn’t seen a ton of volume this season, he’s nabbed a receiving touchdown in five of his last seven games, and finished with at least 14.2 PPR fantasy points in each of those contests. The Eagles have been eviscerated through the air this season, allowing the most PPR fantasy points to opposing wideouts through the first three months of the season. The Cowboys should look to continue their offensive onslaught as they seek revenge for their Week 9 loss in Philadelphia. Cooks has the potential to add to his stretch of solid fantasy outings in a dire Week 14 that likely marks the end of the fantasy football regular season.
