How’d We Get Here?
The first year of the post-Damian Lillard era was predictably rough as a late-offseason pivot forced the Blazers forward with a bit of a clunky roster. Injuries simultaneously cleared up a messy rotation and prevented the team from getting important reps with all the core guys together, though there were solid signs of a bright future from a variety of players. The Blazers didn’t do too much this summer, with the big move coming in the form of swapping Malcolm Brogdon for Deni Avdija. It was a surplus for a weakness, so full marks there. Portland’s hopes are pinned to their collection of young guards figuring it out and we should learn plenty either way as the safety net of Brogdon is no longer part of the picture.
