How’d We Get Here?
The Lakers got another brilliant season from LeBron James and a healthy one from Anthony Davis but remained first-round fodder in the playoffs. With limited pathways to an improved roster as pretty much everyone the team ended up overpaying last summer picked up their player options, the Lakers stood pat. They did make the choice to hire JJ Redick as the team’s new coach after some back-and-forth reporting about the seriousness of his candidacy, and the team is hoping that a fresh voice will make the team better than Darvin Ham could.

Arrivals: Christian Koloko
Rookie Arrivals: Dalton Knecht (17), Bronny James (55), Armel Traore (UDFA 2W), Blake Hinson (UDFA 2W)
Departures: Spencer Dinwiddie, Taurean Prince, Skylar Mays, Harry Giles
Retained: LeBron James, Colin Castleton, Max Christie
