2024-25 Draft Guide Team Preview: Houston Rockets

  • How’d We Get Here?

The Rockets’ big summer a year ago didn’t pay off in a postseason berth, but the team was way more competitive than they had been in recent years. A new coach and a real point guard helped everything click into place, and Houston saw signs of important progress from young players like Alperen Sengun, Tari Eason, Cam Whitmore and Amen Thompson. Armed with a top lottery pick, the Rockets added Reed Sheppard in the draft, and he has pretty much every skill you want in an NBA guard except a couple extra inches of height. It was a quiet offseason otherwise as the Rockets like what they have and are only expecting their core to get better. Can’t blame them there.
