All 30 teams will be in action on Tuesday. The only teams that are not a part of this slate are the Braves and Tigers, who start a little bit earlier than the other 28 teams. That gives the evening slate a total of 14 games to choose from. That means more potential variance and it also means there are more possible winning plays on the board.
A two-game Subway series begins today, with the Mets as the home team. They just signed former Yankee, Luke Voit, to a minor league contract, which tells you how desperate the Mets are and how reluctant Buck Showalter is to trust his young bats. Both games will be on national TV, with tonight’s on TBS and tomorrow’s contest on ESPN.
On the other side of the country, Oakland fans are planning a reverse boycott, where they will try to fill the Coliseum. The As are on a six game winning streak, which include wins against the Pirates, Brewers and Rays. If the season ended today, all three of those teams would currently be in the postseason. If the fans are able to fill that stadium, it will be the first time since the 2019 Wild Card game they’ve registered a sellout.
This is for the 6/13 4:10 PM PST classic slate on Draftkings.
Writer’s Record
28-18-1
New York Yankees @ New York Mets o7.5 runs (+100)
Severino and Scherzer face off tonight. Severino hasn’t been that good since he returned this year. His last two starts, he’s given up a combined 11 runs. Max Scherzer has been inconsistent this year and gave up five runs in his last start.
Pittsburgh Pirates ML (+102) @ Chicago Cubs
The NL Central leading Pirates are underdogs in Chicago tonight. The Pirates offense has sprung to life and broken out of their few week long slump. Jameson Taillon starts for the Cubs and has a 7.02 ERA this year with a 1-4 record.
DFS Pillar Plays
Corbin Burnes
Position: P
Salary: $9,900
The 2021 Cy Young winner was excellent in his last start at home against the Orioles, only giving up two hits and striking out nine. The Twins have struck out more than any other team over the season and over the last 30 days. Burnes has only given up eight total hits in his last three starts.
Shohei Ohtani
Position: 1B/OF
Salary: $6,400
Shohei hit two home runs last night in the first game of this four game series in Texas. He’s on a nine game hit streak and has four home runs the last five games. He has ten extra base hits in June and is one of the hottest hitters in the league currently. The young Cody Bradford will be making only his third start for the Rangers. He’s given up a combined eight runs in his other two starts this year.
J.T. Realmuto
Position: C
Salary: $4,600
The Phillies catcher hit for the cycle last night. He might still be the best catcher in the league, even if his numbers have dipped offensively this year. He’s the fifth highest priced catcher on the board tonight. The Phillies continue their series in Arizona with Zach Wheeler on the mound. The game last night produced 17 runs between the two teams.
DFS Value Plays (<$3200 Salary)
Emmanuel Rivera
Position: 1B/3B
Salary: $3,200
Rivera has been a solid contributor for the Diamondbacks this year. His OPS is .864 on the season with a .364 batting average. He has 14 hits in June, with 10 runs scored. He has been in the lineup almost every day and has produced for this Arizona team that has been hot of late.
Ramon Laureano
Position: OF
Salary: $2,600
The As should come out with a lot of energy tonight in front of more home fans than they’ve seen in years. There are a lot of lower end value guys in this Oakland lineup. Laureano is dirt cheap and compared to other guys in this price range, the production is solid. Some of his value comes from stolen bases, of which he has three in June.
Leody Taveras
Position: OF
Salary: $3,100
The Rangers should be engaged in a high scoring affair with the Angels tonight. The Angels are starting Jaime Barria, who is a makeshift starter. Taveras had three hits last night and is boasting an OPS of .833 this year. Texas lost in extra innings last night and should come out motivated in this matchup against their division rival.
