With Week 1 in the books, it’s time to take a look at the fantasy options who made their GMs scream with joy as they watched the points roll in. This article is not to help with waiver wire pickups, but rather just to give gold stars to the top performers of the week. To find our waiver wire column, click here.

QB
Josh Allen, Bills
31.5 Fantasy Points, QB2
26-for-31, 297 passing yards, three touchdowns, two interceptions, 10 carries for 56 yards & one touchdown
Allen fell short of the top spot on the week, but he earned the top performer of the week given the strength of their opponent in Week 1. His handle on the offense was a sight to behold as the Bills looked a tier above the rest of the league, especially considering the quality of talent the Rams possess on both sides of the ball. Allen may have cost you a pretty penny during draft season, but it’ll be worth it if he continues to dominate like we saw for the opener.
Jalen Hurts, Eagles
24.7 Fantasy Points, QB4
18-for-32, 243 passing yards, 17 carries for 90 yards & one touchdown
Hurts didn’t throw a single touchdown and was still able to deliver elite QB production thanks to his rushing ability. However, his passing ability was on display and he was able to provide a career-high 155 receiving yards to AJ Brown in his Eagles debut. DeVonta Smith didn’t have a single reception on his four targets and that connection is surely to come over the course of the year. The passing touchdowns will come and Hurts’ rushing ability behind arguably the league’s best offensive line might make the young QB one of the best overall values when the fantasy season concludes later this year.
