Fantasy Recap: Jaguars @ Commanders (9/11/22)

  • Final score: Commanders 28, Jaguars 22 (Commanders covered -2.5, O44)

Although, on paper, this game seemed like a snoozer, it turned out to be one of the best games of the entire morning slate.  Carson Wentz put on quite the performance in his first game with his new team, dominating the Jags defense to the tune of 313 yards and four TDs and an impressive QB3 performance (prior to MNF).  The Commanders scored two touchdowns in the final 10 minutes of the game to secure the comeback victory in Week 1.

    Commanders

    QB

Wentz looked very impressive in his debut and led a great aerial assault, completing 27 of 41 attempts for 313 yards, four touchdowns and two picks.  He threw a gorgeous ball, to kickstart the comeback, connecting with Terry McLaurin down the right sideline for a 49 yard touchdown. Although he only completed 66% of his passes, the majority of his throws were on point. Wentz should be a decent streaming option against the Lions next week, who just gave up 330 all-purpose yards to Jalen Hurts.

    RB

What a sigh of relief for Antonio Gibson’s fantasy GMs. Finally the Commanders used him properly, targeting the back eight times which led to an impressive 7-72 receiving line.  In addition, Gibson ran the ball 14 times for 58 yards.  Unfortunately, he did not find the end zone but he was still able to finish the week inside the top-10 thus far at his position.  J.D. McKissic was not featured as much as expected, as it was Gibson who got substantially more work in the passing game.  McKissic finished with three rushes for eight yards and caught all three of his targets for 20 yards.
