Cowboys 23, Giants 16 (Cowboys covered +1 Push of 39)

Pregame: The Giants are 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2016 while the Cowboys got a much-needed victory over the Bengals because of their defense in Week 2 after losing their starting QB for a good portion of this season. Cooper Rush vs. Daniel Jones doesn’t have the same ring to it as most MNF games that we’ve had or will have throughout the year, but this age-old rivalry will likely deliver from a competitive standpoint and that can be seen by the narrow spread.

Postgame: This game was all about the Cowboys defense and Rush’s ability to take care of the ball in comparison to Jones on the other side. DeMarcus Lawrence tied his career-high with three sacks as the Cowboys got to Jones in the backfield five times. Trevon Diggs earned his first interception of the year to seal the victory for the Cowboys, while CeeDee Lamb missed an opportunity to earn a 52-yard receiving touchdown from Rush but he made up for it later in the contest. Jones is now 0-9 in primetime contests, a really disappointing part of his resume. A really sad thing also happened at the end of the game with Sterling Shepard tearing his ACL.

Pregame: Cooper Rush is not worth considering across any format until he proves any sort of consistent production while taking care of the ball. Rush grades out as the 30th best QB this season according to PFF. Sure, it’s only one game of sample size, but the data we have doesn’t indicate that better days are ahead. Look elsewhere for your QB2 in superflex formats and don’t even think about Rush in a one QB league.

Postgame: Our pregame analysis holds true moving forward. Nothing from this game changes that even though Rush is now 3-0 for the Cowboys and has won in both of his starts this season as the Cowboys await the return of Dak Prescott.
