The NBA took Tuesday off, but there’s plenty to discuss as we head into one of the busiest nights of the young season.
Monday finally gave us our first Sacramento victory, ending the NBA’s last remaining winless start. The Kings have been struggling, but their young guards are giving us reasons to pay attention. Meanwhile, Chicago continues heading in the opposite direction, with Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis among the most disappointing fantasy performers through the opening two weeks.
And then there’s the Eastern Conference. Philadelphia and Detroit have emerged as the top two teams in the standings, and Wednesday gives us an opportunity to watch them go head-to-head for the second time this season. It’s an important early matchup for both teams, with Joel Embiid’s health, Cade Cunningham’s outstanding play and Duncan Robinson’s remarkable shooting among the things worth monitoring.
The waiver wire has also been busy. Karlo Matkoviฤ delivered a career performance Monday, the Clippers have a couple of unexpected contributors worth discussing, and several injuries are continuing to create meaningful opportunities around the league.
Wednesday features 14 games, so this isn’t necessarily the best day to use an acquisition simply to increase your games played. Thursday, however, has just two games, and that scheduling difference could become extremely important in competitive head-to-head matchups.
