Fantasy Basketball Draft Guide 2026: Out-of-Position Stats for Guards & Wings

We will be covering out-of-position stats for guards and wings here. That includes players who are labeled as PG, SG or SF on Yahoo, since that is the most popular fantasy platform. For the most part, the players mentioned should still fall into the guard/wing category on other platforms like ESPN, Fantrax and so on, but you should always do some scouting of the draft room on your platform to see the ADPs and the positions assigned. Out-of-position stats are the ones that, in this case, are typically associated with bigs. That is, rebounds, blocks and FG%.
For each stat, I will cover early-round players (ADPs in Rounds 1–4), middle-round players (ADPs in Rounds 5–8) and late-round players (ADPs in Rounds 9–12).
There are multiple ways this could be applied:
- A manager punting stats associated with guards or wings (such as threes, FT%, assists or steals) might be looking for some extra help in a big-man stat (rebounds, blocks or FG%). Knowing the guards and wings who excel in those out-of-position stats can complement your punt build. Of course, be careful that you aren’t only building a 3-cat or 4-cat team.
- You aren’t punting. You are building a balanced team, but you have a positional need (like a SG-SF), while needing extra help in rebounds, blocks or FG%.
- You are looking for guards who produce well in their expected areas, but can also add some value in other areas too to build out a well-rounded fantasy roster.
The projections provided are powered by the B150. Keep in mind that while there might be small changes in the B150 projections over the next few weeks, a player isn’t going to suddenly have their value halved in any of these stats unless they undergo a massive shift in their role and that would likely require extreme circumstances in most cases, and just won’t happen in other cases.
Rebounds
Note that in 2025-26, top-100 players averaged 6.2 rebounds per game and top-200 players averaged 5.6 rebounds per game (both 8-cat and 9-cat).
That means rebounds are a little more available inside the top-100.

2026-27 Projection: 10.2 rebounds
Yahoo Position(s): SF, PF
Obviously, Johnson isn’t necessarily the perfect fit of the criteria, but the “SF” eligibility would fall under “wings.” That makes him a bit of an out-of-position cheat code as a SF-eligible player who gives you elite rebounds. He has a fairly balanced stat profile, albeit being a little better in 8-cat than 9-cat. If Johnson can recover his blocks (down to 0.4 in 2025-26 from 1.0 in 2024-25), that would also go a long way, but the blocks likely fell off due to the extra offensive responsibilities. This is the type of player who can get you off to a good start in multiple areas to aid a balanced build.
