Last week, we saw the QB1 score the most points a QB has scored all season. So how is it possible he’s ranked fourth this week?
Let’s go through the rankings for Week 12 as the fantasy season heads toward its most important weeks.

Premium Access RequiredPlayer Team Opponent Notes 1 Drake Maye NE CIN Is it strange to not rank the QB1 first after he has a huge week? Maybe. Such is the disparity in the matchups between Maye and Josh Allen this week. Maye should torch the woefful Bengals. 2 Lamar Jackson BAL NYJ Jackson was held in check by the solid Browns, but the Jets shouldn’t offer him resistance. If he doesn’t light it up this week, we can revisit this. 3 Jalen Hurts PHI DAL Geno Smith popped the “always attack the Cowboys” balloon a bit on Monday, but surely that won’t happen to Hurts? This is a smash spot for him. 4 Josh Allen BUF HOU Here we find the QB1, and it’s simply a testament to Houston’s defense, as well as the short week that will see the Bills down multiple pass catchers. He’ll be back at the top soon. 5 Patrick Mahomes KC IND Mahomes is the last name before a rather brutal tier break for me this week. He remains the QB3 overall and QB2 in PPG. 6 Jared Goff DET NYG Like I said, this is a tier break. This feels gross after Goff’s disaster against the Eagles, but he gets to go back inside the dome in a great matchup, so he should spike. 7 Matthew Stafford LAR TB Stafford drew a fluky game script against a good defense last week. This is almost a 50-point total, though, so he should thrive here, 8 Dak Prescott DAL PHI This is a weird spot for Prescott after his sterling game Monday. This is a 50-point total, but the Eagles’ defense is also capable of shutting down a passing game. I lean toward trusting Prescott. 9 Caleb Williams CHI PIT Yet another bad defense for Williams. He needs to start throwing for more touchdowns. 10 Jacoby Brissett ARI JAC Love this matchup for Brissett, who completed nearly FIFTY passes a week ago even without his ostensible WR1. This is an easy matchup and he should keep chugging along. 11 Brock Purdy SF CAR Purdy made an impressively solid return in Week 11, and that’s enough to return him to the ranks of the QB1s in a ghastly week beyond the top five. 12 Jordan Love GB MIN Love has turned into just a classic fringe QB1 who is palatable in softer matchups. The Vikings are inconsistent in this regard, and in a tough week, Love is playable. 13 Daniel Jones IND KC I was shocked to see this game have a 50-point total. Starting Jones against the tough KC defense would make me nervous and doesn’t feel optimal. 14 Baker Mayfield TB LAR The Rams had Sam Darnold seeing ghosts in Week 11, but this is a high enough total that Mayfield should do well enough despite a challenging matchup. 15 Joe Flacco CIN NE This is a smash matchup because of the high total, although missing Ja’Marr Chase downgrades it a bit. Monitor Joe Burrow’s status though, as noted below. 16 Sam Darnold SEA TEN This isn’t a good game script setup for Darnold. You’re basically betting that he hits on multiple first half bombs for TDs. It’s risky, but it could pay off. 17 Jaxson Dart NYG DET I am nervous about how much Dart will run in his return from a risky usage-based concussion. That caps his upside for me. The Giants aren’t trying to win, they’re trying to protect their franchise QB. 18 Trevor Lawrence JAC ARI Lawrence gets to 18 this week by virtue of how rough the group is behind him. This is the point in the rankings where everything starts to feel dicey, 19 Bryce Young CAR SF Young had a huge fantasy day behind a sudden volume surge, and now he gets the team that allowed the most passing volume a week ago. He’s still really hard to trust, as the volume could snap back. 20 J.J. McCarthy MIN GB Will McCarthy or Nine be showing up Sunday? Either way, I wouldn’t play him. 21 Tyler Shough NO ATL I’m intrigued by how Shough played in Week 10 before the Saints’ bye. Atlanta is a really inconsistent fantasy defense, so a good week for Shough will have him on the streaming radar. 22 Davis Mills HOU BUF Mills has been a pretty solid fantasy QB in his cameo with C.J. Stroud out. This is a combination of brutal QB matchups though, so I don’t like the spot for him at all. 23 Mason Rudolph PIT CHI It’s not clear who starts for the Steelers this week, but Rudolph is a definite downgrade from Rodgers. Still, this is among the easiest matchups on the board if you’re desparate. 24 Tyrod Taylor NYJ BAL A veteran backup with almost no one to throw to against an improving defense is not something I’m interested in. 25 Geno Smith LVR CLE Smith couldn’t even take advantage of the Cowboys fully on Monday night. The Browns are a terrible matchup for a struggling veteran with sack and turnover issues. 26 Kirk Cousins ATL NO Cousins looked awful in his one start. I’m going to need to see him show a bit of a pulse before streaming him. He’s also not likely to have Drake London in this one. 27 Shedeur Sanders CLE LVR It feels like Sanders needs to show something against the Raiders. I do not feel comfortable betting on him whatsoever. 28 Cam Ward TEN SEA This is a disaster matchup for Ward. He’s up to QB30 on the year now, though! 29* Aaron Rodgers PIT CHI I really like Rodgers as a streamer if he plays. His injury is a tricky one, but he owns the Chicago Bears. I’d rank him above Lawrence. 30* Joe Burrow CIN NE I’ve got no idea what to think about Burrow this week, if he plays. I suppose he should rank up by where I have Brissett, but it still feels very unlikely and strange.
