Borussia Dortmund may be flying high in the Champions League, but domestically they continue to disappoint, slipping down to 11th after a 2-0 loss to Leipzig. That match could have been even worse, with Leipzig hitting the post twice and Dortmund rattling the woodwork three times themselves. Mainz, meanwhile, are one of the in-form teams in the league, climbing up to 3rd place with consistent performances built on solid team play. They will miss Kohr and Mwene due to suspension, but this squad has shown an ability to plug gaps seamlessly. Historically, Mainz have been a thorn in Dortmund’s side. Yhey famously denied them the title two seasons ago, and are unbeaten in their last four meetings against them. With Burkardt and Amiri earning national team call-ups and confidence high, Mainz won’t go down easily. Both teams should find the net in what should be an open contest.
