Key Storylines

Still Rolling: There were some valid concerns regarding Norman Powell’s fantasy value taking a hit once Kawhi Leonard would get up to speed. While Leonard is still ramping up, Powell has been able to sustain his value by continuing to shoot the basketball at a high rate. Powell contributes mainly in the points, FT% and triples categories, but has been able to increase his steal rate this year compared to previous seasons. Powell is having a career-year and fantasy managers who selected him late in drafts should be delighted with his production.

Micic Stream: Vasilije Micic’s NBA career might be over after this season, but with how thin the Hornets are in the backcourt, Micic is the only real viable available option for head coach Charles Lee to rely on while LaMelo Ball is sidelined at point guard. Micic should be rostered in standard formats while Ball is out, as assists are difficult to find on the waiver wire in general.

Stream of the Game

With LaMelo Ball sidelined, Vasilije Micic is a strong streaming option for assists.

Alternatives: Josh Okogie and Derrick Jones Jr. Nick Smith, Mo Bamba and Moussa Diabate (deeper formats).

With Mark Williams resting on Friday, Diabate is also worth a look in standard formats, specifically for rebounds and defensive stats.

Key Storylines

Heating Up?: Back-to-back games in which Klay Thompson has shot the ball really well from the beyond the arc. Can Thompson keep this up? Fantasy managers in standard formats can absolutely take a look at Thompson, especially those in need of a boost in points and triples on their roster. Besides the scoring, Thompson does not do much else, which limits his ceiling, but when he is shooting at this rate he is worth adding until he cools down again.

Stewart Suspension: Isaiah Stewart will be suspended for Friday’s contest due to accumulation of flagrant fouls. Stewart (once again) lost his temper vs. the Pacers shoving Thomas Bryant to the ground and was ejected from the game. Paul Reed will most likely get the backup five minutes on Friday an is someone fantasy managers in deeper formats can consider streaming in for big-man stats.
