Key Postgame Storylines

Once again the Lions give us a watchable loss as they fall to 1-6 and remain on track for a top pick in the draft, leading 27-17 at halftime before going scoreless but not before giving us some fantasy-relevant performances. The running backs were the standouts here as they would score all the touchdowns for the Lions as Detroit got the running game going early. The game got away from them after halftime as they failed to get anything going as they only had three drives resulting in two punts and a turnover on downs as they let their lead slip away. The Dolphins were the more talented team and showed it in the second half as the comeback seemed inevitable with the usual suspects delivering for fantasy during their second-half comeback. If we were to redraft this season, there is reason to believe Tyreek Hill is a first-round pick and Tua Tagovailoa would be a top-10 option at quarterback.

Top Performers

WR Tyreek Hill: Hill erupted for 188 yards on 12-of-14 targets looking as fast as ever and making Lions defenders look helpless. He is a locked-and-loaded WR1 in all formats and should be started with confidence.

WR Jaylen Waddle: Waddle was the touchdown scorer in this one, scoring twice on nine targets with eight total receptions for 106 yards. Even as the WR2 on this offense, Waddle is a must-start WR1 everywhere as well given the talent he has shown us over his time in the NFL.

RB D’Andre Swift: Swift made his return and provided managers with a serviceable day more so as a receiver than a runner as he only ran for six yards on five carries. The five receptions for 27 yards and a score will do for managers in full PPR leagues but we are just happy to see him come out of a game without any setbacks.

RB: Jamaal Williams: Williams was the running back to play this week for the Lions as they trusted him in goal-to-go situations, scoring twice and adding 10 carries for 53 with three receptions for 23 yards. He remains a viable RB2 as long as the team trusts him at the goal line and to receive the bulk of the carries as Swift gets healthier.

QB Tua Tagovailoa: Tua’s stat line looked amazing for fantasy managers as he threw for 382 on 29-of-36 passing. His receivers deserve the credit, however, as underthrown balls were still being caught left and right by his talented wideouts. Those guys aren’t going anywhere, meaning Tua has entered our circle of trust at QB and will be a QB1 moving forward.

Biggest Busts

RB Raheem Mostert: This was a receiver day for the Dolphins as most of their yards were earned through the air, leaving Mostert a mediocre stat line of 14 carries for 64 yards and no touchdowns. Mostert should remain an RB2 for us as his touches aren’t going anywhere and with his role in the offense, more touchdowns should be on the way.

RB Chase Edmonds: Edmonds has been mostly a non-factor this season and remained so in this game, rushing just four times for 14 yards and zero receptions. His role is gone completely as he is not even a factor as a receiver like we hoped, but he is still 55% rostered in Yahoo leagues and can be dropped in all leagues.
