As we approach the heart of the fantasy baseball season, we have started to gather a representative sample size on a lot of hitters and pitchers. In some cases, making a move to get rid of a player opens up a window of opportunity for a player off the wire. This week’s waiver report features a mix of emerging hitters and pitchers who can provide immediate value to your roster.
Daniel Palencia, RP, Cubs (28% Rostered)
Palencia has emerged as a reliable option in the Cubs’ bullpen, recording his third save of the season on May 26 with a perfect ninth inning against the Rockies. Over 18.2 innings this season, he boasts a 1.93 ERA, 0.86 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts. With Porter Hodge on the IL and Ryan Pressly still working his way back, Palencia has seized the opportunity. While his career numbers suggest some volatility, his recent performance indicates he’s worth a speculative add for those in need of saves.
