Today’s edition of Working the Waiver Wire features a couple of bats who are heating up and have real staying power, a pitcher on a roll and getting two starts this week against weak offenses, and some speculative adds for saves. All of the players listed today are under 36% rostered so be sure none of them are available in your leagues!
Jo Adell – OF – LAA – 11% (Yahoo)
Adell has finally started to heat up lately and has the 18th best xwOBA in the majors over the last 30 days (85 plate appearances). In this time he has hit seven homers, scored 13 and driven in another 13. He has a .250 average in spite of a .234 BABIP to go with a .333 ISO.
He has improved the K rate to 21.2% and BB rate to 9.4%. This is supported by an improving in-zone swing rate of 78.7% and 85.9% in-zone contact rate.
The one constant for him this year has been the quality of contact. He has been smacking the ball all year and that has continued in this time with a 13.0% barrel rate and 50.0% hard-hit rate as he is starting to positively regress to his .272 xBA and .538 xSLG.
He needs to be on all 12-team rosters, especially those that utilize five-outfielders.
