It’s not often you get this much upside sitting on the wire in June, but that’s where we are. Between high-profile prospect promotions and impactful IL returns, this week’s waiver wire offers a mix of speed, power, and potential saves. Let’s get into four names worth a look ahead of Wednesday’s slate.
Parker Meadows, OF, Tigers (33% Yahoo)
Meadows made his return from the injured list Monday and wasted no time making an impact, going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two walks, three runs, and a stolen base. He also hit leadoff, which is exactly where you want a speedster with pop in a surprisingly decent Tigers lineup. The 25-year-old was sidelined for nearly two months with a nerve issue in his throwing arm, but Detroit put him right back atop the lineup card in his debut—an encouraging sign for his rest-of-season role.
Meadows showed flashes last season with 8 homers and 8 steals in just 37 games and appears poised to build on that now that he’s healthy. He may sit occasionally against lefties, but he actually held his own against them last year (.263 AVG), so there’s room for optimism in all formats. With dual power-speed upside and early lineup trust, Meadows is a strong add in any league where he’s still floating on waivers.
