We’re heading into the weekend with pitching questions, platoon power, and a few upside arms knocking at the door. Whether you’re managing injuries or trying to find the next breakout, the latest batch of under-rostered players includes a contact-oriented slugger in Boston, an electric bulk arm in Tampa, a possible Yankees rotation stash, and a four-seam maestro thriving in Arizona. All of them are rostered in under 60% of Yahoo leagues and trending up.
Ryne Nelson, SP, Diamondbacks (44% Yahoo)
Nelson has quietly turned a corner over his last five starts, posting a 0.78 WHIP and 36:6 K:BB across 32 innings. He’s coming off a seven-inning gem against the Royals, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out five. Nelson leans heavily on his four-seamer—throwing it nearly 80% of the time—but it’s working thanks to its elite run value and ability to induce weak contact. It’s not a whiff-heavy profile, but it’s efficient and repeatable. With a spot secured in Arizona’s rotation and Corbin Burnes still sidelined, Nelson is a solid target for fantasy managers in need of quality innings.
