The waiver wire is heating up as we wrap the first full week of the 2025 season. Injuries are already stacking up, and new opportunities are popping up across the league. Whether you’re hunting for a hot prospect bat or two, a stash-worthy arm with strikeout upside, or a cheap catcher revival, this is the perfect time to get aggressive. Here are four players rostered in fewer than 60% of Yahoo leagues who could give your squad a boost.
Zac Veen – COL – OF – 26% rostered (Yahoo)
Zac Veen made his MLB debut Tuesday, batting seventh and starting in right field for the Rockies. Once a near-elite prospect, Veen’s rise stalled due to repeated injuries and underwhelming development, but he entered 2025 healthy and productive, hitting .387 with one homer, eight RBI, and a steal in eight games at Triple-A Albuquerque. He posted a .259/.346/.459 slash with 11 homers and 21 steals in 65 games across Double-A and Triple-A last year, showing improved power before back and thumb injuries slowed him again.
The upside here lies in Veen’s plus speed and base running instincts, which give him a chance to make a fantasy impact even if the hit tool or power never fully arrives. Coors Field will help cushion early contact struggles, and Colorado’s outfield depth is thin enough for him to earn regular run. He’s a speculative add in all 15-team formats and deeper five-outfielder leagues, especially for managers hunting steals or willing to play the upside game.
