Working the Waiver Wire: April 29th

  • We’re wrapping up April with a wave of surging bats, healthy returns, and prospect stashes beginning to simmer. This week’s group features two top-tier arms—one who just returned, another who just shoved—plus a former top-10 pick tearing up Triple-A and a red-hot outfielder getting the Coors Field treatment. Let’s get into it.

Jordan Lawlar – SS – Diamondbacks – 22% rostered (Yahoo)

Jordan Lawlar went 2-for-5 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base for Triple-A Reno on Sunday. He’s now hitting .356/.451/.644 with five home runs, 26 RBI, 29 runs scored, and 12 steals through 26 games.

Arizona’s former top-10 pick has started taking reps at third base, opening the door for a potential call-up if Eugenio Suárez moves to DH. Lawlar is showing elite plate discipline with more walks than strikeouts, and he’s produced across the board. If you have room to stash a prospect, Lawlar is a strong add in all formats before he’s gone.
