This weekend‘s quartet of streamers feature a bat going into Coors Field alongside a trio of high upside, New York based right handers who should really be rostered in most formats from here on out.
Friday
Jonah Tong – SP – NYM vs MIA – 32% rostered (Yahoo)
Fresh off the success of fellow top prospect Nolan McLean, Tong will make his major league debut on Friday at home against the Marlins. Miami haven’t been anything close to a rollover in recent times, but Tong is a very high upside pitcher, and if he hits the ground running, he could soon be a must roster everywhere, much like McLean. His MiLB best 1.43 ERA and 179 K’s in the minors won’t be fully replicated in the majors, but they offer some surface level insight into the incredible SP1 potential of this 22-year-old, which could certainly come out in his first start against the Marlins. I’d pick him up everywhere, and hold until he repeatedly struggles and/or is demoted, if it ever comes to that.
Matt Shaw – 2B/3B/SS – CHC @ COL – 45% rostered (Yahoo)
Coors Field is a perfect environment for any hitter to thrive, especially with the dire state of the Colorado Rockies pitching staff. The Cubs haven’t enjoyed the best month, but their offense is more than good enough to do some serious damage this weekend, and Matt Shaw projects to be a part of it. His propensity to put the ball in play should enable him to take advantage of the mile high environment, as should Willi Castro‘s line drive swing, so either presents as a suitable three day streamer for this weekend in deeper leagues, even without any long-term value.
