There are many good environments for hitters this weekend. A lot of areas will enjoy above average temperatures for mid-May and only a few games have a risk of rain. See below for details.
Next week is a different story, though, as favorable hitting environments will be less common. A large storm system is forecast to slowly move across the Midwest and Northeast, spreading rain across those regions followed by chilly weather. Also, while it’s always nice to see a series at Coors (Phillies at Rockies Monday-Thursday), the first two games of that series will be chilly and possibly showery.
Here are the best and worst weather conditions for your hitters in the next seven days:
TARGETS: This Weekend’s Best Hitting Environments
- Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs (Friday only; one of the best setups of the entire week as temperatures hit 80 degrees plus 20 mph outbound winds with gusts near 35 mph). NOTE: Temps will be much cooler on Saturday but we’ll still see beneficial gusty outbound winds that day.
- Washington at Baltimore (Friday & Saturday; some risk of rain Friday, otherwise warm, humid and 85–88 degrees both days)
- St. Louis at Kansas City (Friday-Sunday; temps near 80 degrees for all three games with just a small rain chance on Sunday)
- Pittsburgh at Philadelphia (Friday & Saturday: temps near 80 degrees for these two games although there is a chance of rain Friday)
- Colorado at Arizona (Friday & Saturday; the roof is scheduled to be open with favorable temps near 90 both evenings). NOTE: Roof should be closed for Sunday afternoon’s game.
Targets for Early Next Week:
- Houston at Tampa Bay (Monday-Wednesday; the best overall series with temps near 88 degrees, favorably high humidity and very low rain chances for all three games)
- LA Angels at the A’s (Monday-Thursday; temps at least 85 degrees for all four games)
And now the games to avoid this weekend and early next week…
