Weather Impacts on Your Fantasy Players (Friday, July 18 to Thursday, July 24)

  • The All-Star break is over and teams are playing their 100th game in the next few days. That means it is time to get your fantasy teams off to a good start for the second ‘half.’ One way to accomplish this is to find the best weather-related environments for your hitters to excel and that’s exactly what we’ll do in this article.

A storm will bring rain to the Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic states this weekend. Games in Pittsburgh (vs Chicago White Sox), Washington, DC (vs San Diego) and Cleveland (vs Athletics) have a decent chance to be delayed or rained out, especially on Saturday. With that in mind, let’s see which games to target and avoid in the next seven days.

    TARGETS:

    This Weekend’s Best Hitting Environments

    • Baltimore at Tampa Bay (Friday-Sunday; temperatures near 90 degrees plus summertime humidity in Florida spells good hitting conditions, especially if we can dodge a few thunderstorms)
    • NY Yankees at Atlanta (Friday-Sunday; typical Hotlanta heat and humidity with only isolated thunderstorms to worry about)
    • Minnesota at Colorado (Friday-Sunday; woohoo we get a series at Coors with temps between 83 and 90 degrees!)

    Targets for Early Next Week:

    • St. Louis at Colorado (Monday-Wednesday; another series at Coors where temps will be near 90 degrees with just a low chance of a thunderstorm)
    • Kansas City at Chicago Cubs (Tuesday & Wednesday; temps increase to 85-90 for Games 2 and 3 of this series with good humidity and possibly a bit of an outbound breeze)
    • Baltimore at Cleveland (Tuesday-Thursday; Monday’s game temps aren’t anything special but improve to 85-90 for these three games with just a low chance for rain)

Those are the best games to target. Now let’s see which ones to avoid during the next seven days:
