    Key Storylines

Derrick White is off the injury report and Jrue Holiday was just cleared for tonight. With Holiday’s extended absence as of late and the rotation of resting starters, Payton Pritchard has been killing it for the Celtics. Over the past two weeks, Celtics’ top-six players have been ranked within the top 60; Pritchard is 86th. This is why they have been the top team in the league all season long. Regardless of Holiday’s status, if Pritchard is on your league’s waiver wire, you should pick him up just to see if this can continue to last, especially since this is a light slate as well.

The Hawks are in rough shape. Trae Young and Saddiq Bey are both out for the season, breakout star Jalen Johnson is on the injured list, Onyeka Okongwu got injured almost immediately after returning from an injury that kept him out for many weeks, and we haven’t really gotten to see anything out of their promising first-round pick, Kobe Bufkin. Since Young’s finger injury, Dejounte Young has been the eighth-ranked player, averaging 25.4 PPG, 3.5 3PG, 5.1 RPG, 9.0 APG, and 2.1 SPG on 47% from the field and 73% from the line; these stats are very reminiscent of his 2021-22 All-Star season with the Spurs. It’s pretty clear to everyone that the Murray-Young backcourt isn’t working, and it’s only a matter of time until it gets broken up. Murray is showing what he can do when he’s given the keys to the car, but he needs better passengers than Bogdan Bogdanovic and Clint Capela in order to find next-level success. If the Hawks don’t want to let go of their franchise player that they chose over Hall of Fame lock, Luka Doncic, don’t be surprised if Murray and his highly valuable contract end up with a contender in a few months.
