• It’s the middle of the week and what better way to get over the hump than dig into some potential waiver wire adds. Today, we have a few players with top prospect pedigree albeit some speed bumps along the way and a lesser known unheralded speedster making waves up in Beantown. Let’s get started.

    Andrew Vaughn – 1B – CHW – 26% Yahoo, 63% Fantrax

Andrew Vaughn went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday’s 4-3 loss to the Mariners, extending his hitting streak to 11 games. Over this impressive stretch, Vaughn has gone 16-for-44 (.364) with three homers and five RBI, raising his season slash line to .226/.283/.372 with seven home runs, 23 RBI, 23 runs scored, and one stolen base across 62 contests. He has quietly been one of the hottest hitters in baseball and seems to have finally found his footing after a dreadful start to the year. Vaughn is hitting in the heart of the White Sox lineup everyday, and his playing time is not in question.

The third overall pick in the 2019 draft, Vaughn has had what some would call a bit of a rocky start to his career as he has put up decent not great stats in years past and has yet to realize the massive power potential he showed in college. His career trajectory draws a lot of parallels to fellow 1B Spencer Torkelson. This is not to say Vaughn has finally figured it all out, but the recent results don’t lie and he is worthy of a speculative add in 12 team and deeper leagues as not only is he a hot hitting flavor of the week, but also a potential long-term add with the pedigree he has. An added bonus is that Vaughn could be playing his way into being a potential trade target for 1B needy teams (Anthony Rizzo watch out) which would only boost his value with a superior lineup around him.
