David Peterson – NYM – SP – 30% ESPN
The Mets rotation has the lowest era in the National League since the beginning of June, and the success of David Peterson is an enormous reason why. A 2.75 ERA is unquestionably elite, but a 4.85 xERA along with bottom quartile ranks in K:BB ratio, xBA and hard hit rate indicate room for regression, enough so that many owners have deemed Peterson to be a worthwhile pass. He is expected to double start next week, starting with an attractive Monday matchup In Toronto, and starting again next weekend in Philadelphia. With a 1.13 WHIP over August and September and 11ks in his last start vs Boston, I’m confident enough in his success in these starts, at least to stave off serious regression for now.
