Every week I will do a quick drive thru of the all the games and cover the relevant fantasy points. I will look at things that might be fluky or here to stay and try and point everyone in the right direction for the future. We never want to overreact to a small-sample size, but sometimes getting in too early is still better than missing the boat entirely.
Rams 12 – Niners 6
The rain destroyed this game and it was the biggest letdown of the season. Neither QB has over 200 yards passing Cooper Kupp had zero receptions. Puka Nacua can’t be contained and he got close to 100 yards, but that was it in the passing game. Kyren Williams got over 100 yards rushing, but it took 29 carries and he like everyone else didn’t score. This game had zero TDs, so anyone you started outside of Nacua was a disappointment. Isaac Guerrendo played hurt and was fine with four grabs and 57 rushing yards, but not quite what he did the week previous. Both teams should be better next week, but the Niners’ season is all but over.
Pickup of the game: None
Jets 32 – Jags 22
Aaron Rodgers is finally slinging the ball and it’s fitting that it’s when nothing matters. He does look great and maybe the Jets keep him for one more round. He’s connected with Davante Adams again and Adams had one of the best games of his career with 198 yards and two TDs. That didn’t leave much for Garrett Wilson to do, but he still scored with only three grabs. Breece Hall played, but probably shouldn’t have, but he was able to score as well, so his fantasy line wasn’t terrible. Rodgers led the team in rushing which is random, but that doesn’t bode well for Isaiah Davis or Braelon Allen. Mac Jones threw the ball 46 times, so his line looks better than it was even though he had two INTs. Brian Thomas Jr. might be a second round pick next season as he looks unstoppable right now. Brenton Strange picked up the slack with Evan Engram out, but he’s going to be hit-or-miss. Travis Etienne was bad all season, so he continued that run. Tank Bigsby split carries, but Etienne was the better back today which was shocking.
Pickup of the game – TE Brenton Strange – Priority Low
Cowboys 30 – Panthers 14
Cooper Rush is balling right now and it always helps to play CAR. Rico Dowdle was over 100 rushing yards again and DAL might finally have their guy. CeeDee Lamb scored and was targeted often which is finally a good option for DAL. Lamb is playing the best ball of his season and is putting up better stats than he did with Dak Prescott. Two guys named Jalen scored for DAL, but they aren’t on the fantasy radar. DAL isn’t dead yet. The Panthers were average and Bryce Young short-circuited with two INTs even though he did rush for a score. Chuba Hubbard had his first bad game in what feels like forever and it was Jalen Coker who led the way with a 83-yard score. Don’t bet on that again. Adam Thielen was fine with 50 yards and five grabs, but it wasn’t great and this was the Panther team we were used to in the first half.
Pickup of the game – None
Ravens 35 – Giants 14
This was peak Lamar Jackson and he went for five TDs and it was Derrick Henry who was left in the barn. The Giants have one of the worst rush defenses in football, but I guess BAL didn’t feel it was necessary to unleash him. Justice Hill got involved in the passing game with a score as Rashod Bateman took over with two of his own on only three grabs. Mark Andrews kept up his scoring run and Lamar really spread it around while rushing for 65 himself. The Giants were a joke and only Malik Nabers looked like a NFL player out there. He caught a nice TD and everything else close as he caught 10-of-14 targets. Tim Boyle took over for Tommy DeVito who got hurt, but bother were equally inept.
Pickup of the game – None
Commanders 20 – Saint 19
The Commanders had this game in the bag, but somehow the Saints clawed back and due to come sketchy officiating, almost pulled off the upset. Jayden Daniels has officially heated back up after a mid-season swoon and he’s running the ball as aggressively as ever. Brian Robinson Jr. wasn’t great in what should have been the best matchup of the season, but he couldn’t score or break one loose. Terry McLaurin has finally answered the question, what if he had a QB. He had another two TDs and is bankable this season as any of the names outside the top-five. Alvin Kamara got hurt and that means Kendre Miller might get some run, but he really isn’t that great. Spencer Rattler came in for Jake Haener and this entire NO team is a stayaway.
Pickup of the game – RB Kendre Miller – Priority Med
Bengals 37 – Titans 27
Nobody wants to play vs. Joe Burrow right now and though he had two INTs, the TDs were more than enough in this game. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins did their thing as the only thing Chase didn’t do is score. Chase Brown did score twice and he’s running away with backup RB of the year, although it’s a slight asterisk. Chase Brown is going to be on the highest percentage of winning teams this season. Tony Pollard scored wasn’t able to take advantage in a great spot. Will Levis was awful as usual with three INTs and Mason Rudolph wasn’t bad as a replacement. The Nick Westbrook-Ikine is run appears to be over and it was Tyjae Spears who took advantage in a negative game script. Spears scored twice in garbage time and unfortunately Calvin Ridley wasn’t able to take advantage.
Pickup of the game –RB Tyjae Spears – Priority Med
