I have a vivid memory of picking up and playing Ted Ginn, Jr. in a fantasy playoff game roughly 10 years ago. It went terribly, but I won the matchup anyway.
I tell that story as a paradigm shift for the kinds of players we’re targeting for the next two weeks. For a lot of the season, we’ve been looking at long-term or at least multi-week upside, and care more about how talented a player is. This week and next week, if we’re making a waiver claim, we’re looking for a player with massive opportunity to score points in a single game and produce in our flex spot or our weakest position.
Quick reminder: I’m primarily going to discuss players with below 50% ownership on Yahoo, with possible exceptions if the number is very close. There will be a section for players closer to 75-80% owned later in the article, which will include names to make sure aren’t owned in your league, but those names likely won’t be available in most cases.
Also, an additional note: Since we’re in the fantasy playoffs, I’ve done away with FAAB suggestions. The rankings imply my personal priority, but if you’re going after impact, you’re likely emptying your remaining budget or bidding zero on whatever you can get.
