Fantasy Basketball Draft Guide 2026: H2H Mock Draft: 12-Team, 9-Cat

By Mike Passador Published October 15, 2026 1 min read

Who doesn’t love a fantasy draft? It’s easily the most fun part of the whole experience — besides winning at the end — and there’s nothing quite like the rush of being on the clock. Since we can’t (or we shouldn’t, I know a bunch of you out there do) sign up to play in dozens of leagues, we use the trusty mock draft to get out fix. It’s a great way to get some practice in and repeated mock drafts can help you get a sense for what the real thing might look like. Every draft is unique and odds are things will divert quickly, but they’re a handy tool to help you prepare for the big dance.

Notice when certain positional runs happen.

Keep track of players who fall farther than you’d think.

Always be on the look out for good value spots; find the “dead zones” where you don’t like the options and think about whether you can afford to reach and capitalize on a pocket of value later.

This mock is a 12-team, 9-cat head-to-head league. We’ll talk through my strategy as the draft unfolds and call out some other favorite picks along the way.
