Pitching and outfield aside, shortstop is by far the deepest and most talented fantasy position. They could easily have the top four at the position end the year 1-4 in fantasy rankings and it would not surprise a soul. They have more 30/30 types than every position but outfield, have the highest rate of 20 stolen base thieves other than outfield and have some truly elite prospects coming through the minor leagues. It’s also an incredibly young position, with only seven of the top 30 over the age of 30 and only five of the top 15. It is almost impossible to walk away from any draft without a top option at shortstop, though the best drafters will have two or three of the top 20 in their lineups, due to the position eligibility of so many of the top shortstops. I prefer to make sure I grab one of the first seven on this list, just because I trust them to give me the best return on investment and I want an absolute stud at shortstop.
