2024 Fantasy Baseball Busts

  • When conducting a fantasy baseball draft, your first picks in the draft matter way less comparatively than they might in, say, fantasy football. In fantasy baseball, you are tasked with assembling a team of typically 25-30 players who play night in and night out. Each member of your team is scheduled to play the same 162 game season, whether they were your first round pick or your 25th round pick. Since there are so many contributors to a successful fantasy baseball team, fantasy baseball content is constantly trying to help you correctly assess the predicted value that a player projects to contribute to your team in 2024.

This article is predicting busts, guys who I find to be a bit overvalued by fellow fantasy baseball players on the National Fantasy Baseball Championship (NFBC) platform. The ADP (average draft position) numbers are from 2/1-2/21, 2024 to best reflect updated draft data.

Baseball is a hard sport to be perfect at predicting performance and stat lines each time, so the most important thing about succeeding in your draft is to use your conviction even if you disagree with sleepers and busts articles like mine. All of these guys are professional baseball players who are capable of great things, so if you like your guy more than I do, I still encourage you to trust your gut and prove me wrong.

Here are my busts in 2024 drafts. I didn’t shy away from discussing hot commodities in fantasy baseball because it is most valuable to you, the reader. I would not be surprised if some of these guys proved me wrong, but this is my best intuition.
