    Draft and Hold League Primer

Scott Burks provides a Draft and Hold Primer from a beginner's point of view, including discussing the format, how the drafts and in-season management of the leagues work and includes tips he has picked up along the way and some lessons he learned in his first year of playing this format.

Risers & Fallers: Catchers & Outfielders

Last week we covered corner infielders and three weeks ago we went over the middle infielders, so this week we're going to talk about the catchers and outfielders (a weird combo, I know, but if it is good enough for Daulton Varsho, it is good enough for me) who have risen and fallen this season, with a special shoutout for Shohei Ohtani.

    Risers & Fallers: Corner Infielders

Two weeks ago, we discussed middle infielders and their fantasy values going forward, in dynasty and re-draft leagues. This week, we will be going over corner infielders and their dynasty and re-draft values. Unlike shortstop, neither third base nor first base is super deep with tons of young talent, but there is one player who is head and shoulders better than anyone else at a corner infielder position.

    Risers & Fallers: Middle Infielders

Including today, we have four regular season Friday's left. I am going to use each of those Friday's and this column to target a different group of risers and fallers, with an eye on their value in dynasty leagues going forward. Today we'll go over middle infielders, next Friday corner infielders, the Friday after that catchers and outfielders and the final Friday will be pitchers, both starters and closers. We'll go over the youngsters that have shot up the rankings and the veterans who can and will still impact each of the positions.

Risers & Fallers: Spencer Arrighetti, Luis Garcia Jr.,…

With only have five regular season Friday's left on the calendar, that means we only have six risers and fallers columns left for the 2024 season. With trade deadlines behind us and the playoffs in front of us, we're going to start to take a more dynasty focused look at players that are performing well or performing poorly. For re-draft leagues, these will still be impactful, just, like, five months from now, instead of five weeks from now (as soon as the MLB regular season is over, for example, in my dynasty league, we can begin to wheel and deal again).

    Risers & Fallers: Sophomore Pitchers

A few weeks ago, I found myself scrolling through the position leaders and noticed a lot of sophomore hitters who stood out, so this week I decide to do the same with pitchers. And let me tell you, there are a ton of sophomore pitchers that are standing out, including top-line starters and elite relievers. On the flip side, many promising young arms lost most if not all of their sophomore seasons to injury, while a few others regressed after an impressive rookie year.

    Risers & Fallers: Sophomore Hitters

As I was searching through the ranks and looking over the stat lines of some top performers this year, I started to notice a trend of sophomore names popping out near the tops of each position, guys like Brenton Doyle in the outfield, or Zach Neto and Elly De La Cruz at shortstop. Notably, there were some high performing rookies that were missing from the tops of these lists, either due to performance (like James Outman) or due to long injuries (like Triston Casas, Josh Jung and Matt McLain).

Risers & Fallers: Trade Deadline Edition

The 2024 MLB trade deadline has come and gone, with a flurry of trades made in the final hours. From the Dodgers trading for Jack Flaherty to the Royals beefing up their bullpen, teams at all levels of contention made some moves. So, in this edition of risers & fallers, we are going to look at the players that I believe were most impacted, either positively or negatively.

Sports Ethos MLB Trade Deadline Fantasy Baseball Losers…

Now that the MLB trade deadline is over and the dust has settled, tens of players have moved from one team to another, while some never left home, with greener pastures just out of their reach. We've gone over who the winners were after the trade deadline was over, so today we will be going over the losers. Remember, this is from a fantasy perspective, not an in-real-life perspective, so it doesn't matter if a player joined a good team if the ballpark negatively affects their ability to hit home runs, it matters because the park can hurt their overall fantasy production.
