• Rajon Rondo
    PG, Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks have made the signing of Rajon Rondo official.

Rondo drew interest from teams far closer to the title but the Hawks paid up to get their man, offering a two-year, $15 million deal to shore up the backup PG spot. It remains to be seen how much Rondo plays behind franchise cornerstone Trae Young and new acquisition Kris Dunn, but it should be a safe bet that he's at or below last season's 20.5 mpg with the Lakers. There's danger for the Hawks in overplaying the veteran, which always seems to happen given his reputation, but Young's stardom has us cautiously optimistic that Rondo will be less of a complicating factor than he has been in previous stops. He's got appeal as an assists specialist in larger formats but the playing time concerns are limiting his ceiling significantly.
