Buddy Hield

SG, Sacramento Kings

Tensions were high between Buddy Hield and the Kings' coaching staff at points during the 2019-2020 season but head coach Luke Walton apparently has no concerns, stating that he and sharpshooting guard Buddy Hield have a "very good relationship" at this point.

Well then. Hield, who notably won the 3-point shooting contest in February, was not happy with his usage throughout the 2019-2020 season. He was moved to the bench by Walton and played 20 games as a reserve before the season was suspended in March. There were even trade rumors swirling when Hield made his discontent public which was particularly interesting given that the team locked up Hield to a 4-year extension just last October. Walton is obviously downplaying the situation with Hield for the betterment of the team as a whole, so we will see what, if anything, else comes out of Hield's friction with Walton.
