Justise Winslow (hip) is unlikely to be ready for opening night but should be able to return early in the season, per Grizzlies EVP of Basketball Ops Zach Kleiman.
Winslow, who missed all but 11 games last season with back troubles, suffered a season-ending hip injury while practicing prior to the NBA restart in Orlando. The Grizzlies acquired him via trade while he was hurt and he'll give the team some versatility and playmaking whenever he is on the court. Winslow has yet to suit up for Memphis but it sounded like he was in the running to start in the bubble, so that should be the expectation whenever he's ready to go this season. Winslow has played his best as a point guard but could line up at small forward and serve as a key secondary playmaker.
