The New York Times' Marc Stein reports that the Pacers have pursued Gordon Hayward via trade and that the Knicks are in play for the new free agent.
Stein also mentioned the possibility of Hayward re-signing with the Celtics for more years, presumably at a lower salary. Hayward to Indiana has been a rumor for a year or so now given his ties to the area, while the Knicks' interest has been a consistent idea since it became clear that Hayward might actually walk away from his $34 million option. A sign-and-trade with the Pacers is certainly doable, and recent rumors connecting Myles Turner to the Celtics should only add fuel to that fire. We'll see what happens when the dust is settled.
