• Russell Westbrook
    PG, Houston Rockets

John Lucas, who had spent the previous four season as a player development coach for the Rockets, is set to become an assistant under new head coach Stephen Silas, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Silas is getting his staff together and ultimately decided to promote Lucas from inside the organization. He was a part of the previous regime and is quite familiar with the Rockets’ core players, having been with the team since the summer of 2016. The Rockets could be giving it a final go with the aforementioned, preexisting core – centered around recent MVPs James Harden and Russell Westbrook – as they have not found much, if any, playoff success in recent years. Former coach Mike D’Antoni was ousted and the roster currently has essentially no power forwards or centers. It’s safe to say the next few months will bring many new changes for the Rockets. The coaching staff is just the beginning.
