Dwight Howard is coming off his first championship with the Lakers, but a larger deal may be more important to him than returning to Los Angeles.

“I don’t want to play for free anymore. This year, it was like, ‘OK, I’ll do whatever.’ But I think I’ve earned… a contract.” Dwight had a nice season with the Lakers but it doesn’t look very likely that a team will throw a lot of money to him. He is a nice backup at this point of his career and looked healthy after a few seasons were his body failed him so it remains to be seen whether this is enough to persuade a franchise to invest in him.
