Weather Impacts on Your Fantasy Players (July 17-23)

  • Now that we’re entering the peak of summer with warm and humid conditions being common, many teams will play in very favorable hitting environments. This should be a particularly good week because several cities will be warmer than average. Even some of the West Coast teams that typically play in much cooler (less favorable) weather will see a warming trend as the week unfolds.

Targets: This Week’s Best Hitting Environments

While this should be a good week overall, the Arizona at Atlanta series stands out as the best hitting weather of the week. Temperatures will be 92-95 degrees for all 3 games on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Humidity will be high with Heat Index values of 102-105 while rain chances will be very low. My only regret is that the Braves play away games next weekend, so Hotlanta’s rich hitting conditions will be left untapped – boohoo! Here are the rest of the best hitting conditions this week:

    • LA Dodgers at Baltimore (Monday; temps near 90 with decent humidity)
    • Miami at St. Louis (Wednesday; temps near 90 with enough humidity to cause a Heat Index value of 100)
    • Detroit at Kansas City (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday’s games will be very warm, humid, and probably rain-free)
    • Houston at Colorado (Wednesday afternoon; 90 degrees at Coors sounds like a big winner… just watch out for scattered thunderstorms)
