New England Patriots (0-2) @ New York Jets (1-1)
Pats (-145) @ Jets (+125): O/U 36
Pats 2.5 (-120), Jets +2.5 (+100)Writer’s Record:
Bet: 4-7 -2.9u
Lean: 5-4 +0.11uThis is going to be an extremely physical contest between two teams who don’t like each other and aren’t very talented on the offensive side of the ball. The total is 36 which might be the lowest total for non-weather related reasons I can remember. The Pats are 0-2 and are still favored on the road. That might seem like an over-correction but the Pats own Zach WIlson and it hasn’t been pretty. The only way the Jets are going to win this game is on the ground and banking on their defense to force a couple of TOs. This game won’t be pretty, but it could be fun from a car crash standpoint. Whichever team loses is going to take a long, hard look in the mirror and they won’t like what they see.
Main Storylines to Watch
Wilson’s Last Stand: The Jets locker room isn’t the biggest Zach Wilson fan club and if he has another letdown performance, it will be hard to imagine him starting many more games this season. Wilson has four INTs through two games and is definitely on track for another couple vs. a Pats team that forced him to throw seven INTs in his four games against them.
Paging Dr. Rhamondre: Rhamondre Stevenson showed last season that he has the goods to be an RB1 in fantasy and in real life, but so far through two games, the Pats are the 27th best rushing team. The biggest reason why this is so is because they have fell behind double digits in both contests, but regardless Stevenson has yet to imprint his stamp on either game. This isn’t the greatest matchup to breakout either, but the Pats should be within one score at all points of this game and Stevenson should get involved on the ground and through the air..
