    Fun Facts for the season

-It is a tale of two franchises in Los Angeles. The Lakers are one of the most prolific franchises in NBA history, having made the Finals more than any other team (31 NBA Finals appearances) while the Clippers have had the longest drought in NBA history without ever making an NBA Finals (50 years).

-Many expected Kawhi Leonard to miss more than 13 games so far this season and that could help explain why his ADP was 10th overall (according to Yahoo!). Leonard’s total value fell off by a full round of value in comparison with his per-game value after only playing in 74 percent of his team’s games in Toronto last season. By comparison, Kawhi was able to maintain first-round value on both a per-game and totals basis as the defending NBA Finals MVP was on track to play in 80 percent of his games with the Clippers.

-Drafting injured players to start the season is a risky proposition for fantasy GMs and Paul George did not pan out as he has only taken the floor in 66 percent of his team’s games thus far this season, resulting in a four-round drop in value between his per-game numbers (3rd/3rd round) and his totals (7th/7th round). An injury-riddled season had George fall short of his early second-round ADP and it is a lesson for everyone that drafting injured players early can cost you.

-The Clippers’ five-man lineup of Lou Williams, Patrick Beverley, George, Leonard and Montrezl Harrell have only played 56 minutes together across 17 games but have the second best defensive rating in the league (min. 50 minutes together) of 84.4. When/if the season resumes and we head into the playoffs, expect to see this combination of players on the court together a lot more as the Clips look to earn their first NBA title.

-As a result of the new influx of talent on the roster, the incredible bench duo of Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell both saw their values decline season over season. Williams saw his usage fall from a career-high 32.4 in 2018-19 to 28.3 so far this season which helps explain the dip in his fantasy production as there are more mouths to feed. Harrell actually saw his usage increase season over season but saw his value fall due to a drop-off in defensive stats as well as percentages.

-The Clippers have perhaps their best chance at an NBA Finals appearance in franchise history with Leonard and George surrounded by talented complimentary pieces. However, the window could close as quickly as it was opened if George and/or Kawhi decide to opt-out of their player options following the 2020-21 season. The team only has six players under team-control through the 2021-22 season and only four of them averaged 15 mpg or more this season: Patrick Beverley, Ivica Zubac, Rodney McGruder, Landry Shamet, Mfiondu Kabengele, Terance Mann
